The Portfolio
The portfolio provides physical documentation of the student’s Capstone Project. It also serves as the initial introduction of the student and his/her project to the Judges at the presentation. The portfolio consists of some components which are REQUIRED for students to include, and other components which yield BONUS points if students choose to include them.
The REQUIRED CONTENTS (arranged in the order indicated below) should be placed in a notebook/folder for presentation. Click on the underlined items to view samples and templates.
You may earn BONUS points by job shadowing your designated Capstone topic. Add the following form to your portfolio to earn additional points.
The portfiolo is due at the time of the student’s presentation. The portfolio will be evaluated and included as part of the presentation grade. Failure to submit a complete portfolio will have an impact on the student’s presentation grade. The presentation grade counts as a summative grade in the English course, in addition to the summative grade that is recorded for the research paper.

- Cover: Graphically depicts your project and clearly displays your topic, your name and your English teacher’s name.

You may earn BONUS points by job shadowing your designated Capstone topic. Add the following form to your portfolio to earn additional points.
- Job Shadow Form - NPHS will excuse your absence for you to job shadow your chosen Capstone topic. In order to have the absence excused and not count against your exemptions, you must have the Job Shadow Form completed and turned into the front office BEFORE your scheduled job shadow day.
